Yamitsu Algae Master UV Clarifier - Complete with UV Tube, Hosetails and Brackets for Wall Mounting

Yamitsu algae master UV's are made from UV stabilised materials to ensure a longer life and incorporate turbulators to enhance the unit's performance.
Large inlet and exhaust ports make the algae master UV suitable for a wide range of applications. It is recommended that the algae master UV should be installed using solid solvent weld pipe. However, all algae master UV's come complete with free (glue in) hosetails enabling them to be connected to ½", ¾", 1", 1¼" and 1½" flexible pipe.
Algae master UV's will also fit most popular 1½" household solvent weld waste and pressure pipes.
Yamitsu Algae Master Pond UV Installation
If you have a severe algae problem you should effect a partial water change before starting the installation. Algae Master can be added to any existing filtration system. For best results algae master units should be fitted in line, after the pump, with water being forced through them. Use the largest size of pipe possible. If hosetails are to be used, it is very important that they are trimmed to the largest possible size that will fit inside the flexible pipe (before glueing in place - please note glue is not supplied). This will ensure that the maximum flow rate can be obtained for the size of pipe.
Yamitsu Algae Master UV Maintenance
Although maintenance is minimal all UV lamps need replacing at six monthly intervals. The algae master's UV lamp may be illuminated and appear to be working but the radiation dosage diminishes with age and is ineffective after six months. Dispose of used UV lamps sensibly. Even exhausted UV lamps should NEVER be looked at directly when illuminated
As the algae master UV is dependant upon water passing through it, it is important to ensure that any pump strainers, pre-filters or delivery pipes are not blocked or are causing the flow to be restricted.
To change the Yamitsu Algae Master lamp
Isolate your algae master UV from mains power, turn off pump, remove shower-proof ends and lamp holder, carefully slide out lamp, undo circular nut at each end of unit, remove "O" rings, one from each end, carefully slide out quartz sleeve. To clean use rag dampened with pond water, wipe dry with a cloth and reinstall. Use no chemical cleaners harmful to fish. To reinstate slide silica quartz sleeve back into position carefully, reposition "O" rings at either end over quartz, centralise tube with an even amount protruding at either end, replace nuts (hand tighten only), turn on pump and test for leaks, if on inspection no leaks are apparent replace lamp as above and reconnect
WARNING
If you are unable to position your algae master UV in a location where it will not freeze, make allowances during the installation to ensure you can easily remove it for storage during the colder times of the year.

Yamitsu algae master 15w
Really good product, had one previously but hard frost cracked case and smashed inner glass, had always disconnected in winter ( best course of action ) but left it one winter with tragic results. Had decided to try a year without it in the pond and pea soup resulted, chemical treatments wouldn't touch it so bought a new filter, installed on the Saturday and by Weds that week all but clear. Will certainly keep an algae master running during most months just removing in depths of winter. Highly recommended. Only comment from previous experience over a good number years is that the bulb can be fiddly to replace on this model.
