Important: Tortoises and other Reptiles can only assimilate calcium in the presence of vitamin D3 which they receive from UVB light. To successfully care for your tortoise, it is essential they receive this from either sunlight (when kept outdoors) or a suitable UVB light. Without UVB light no amount of calcium powder or supplements will prevent your pets from developing metabolic bone disease (MBD).
