During operation the LCD temperature display changes colour if the aquarium water temperature varies from the pre-set temperature, so it should be on green for safe zone, turns red when the temperature deviates too high from this temperature and turns blue when the temperature deviates too low. Should the water temperature change by more then 3 degrees celcius (or 5.5 degrees farenheit) the coloured screen will flash, indicating a potential risk.
